Meet Mara (ID5132)
Mara came into rescue with her mom Ariel when the owner took ill and both dogs were turned over to a shelter.
Mara is very reactive to other animals, however is a very sweet dog to people. She is good with people, trying to cuddle and lie on your lap. Mara is good on a leash, she pulls due to her energy, but responds to “Mara wait”. Mara is not cat friendly.
Mara would not thrive in a home with kids, it would be too much noise and activity for her comfort level. Mara is a nervous dog, noises make her run as do sudden movements.
She does best with routine. Mara does well with the occasional dog walker trips. Mara is fine being placed in boarding for short periods of time.
She does soil in the house even though she is taken out numerous times to potty. We believe it is due to her anxiety levels, Mara does take Fluoxetine for anxiety.
We feel a successful placement would be a home where someone is home. A fully fenced yard to keep her secure, no other animals, no kids but some could visit. Stick to a routine, and let her be.
