Meet Ollie (ID5704)

Ollie is a very handsome, ridged livernose (neutered) boy, who we found at a local shelter (so his age is an approximation). Unfortunately, Ollie had a rough start in life as he was admitted to the shelter with numerous pressure ulcers and calluses from laying on hard surfaces. Since coming into rescue, Ollie has learned the comforts of orthobeds, rolling in and running on grass, sharing sofas and toys with his 4-legged foster siblings, swimming, and going on daily hikes. Ollie has been fostered with 2 other ridgebacks, is crate-trained, started learning basic commands, leash and house-manners, while also learning to socialize with people and other dogs. Turns out, Ollie loves water and likes to swim. Ollie is now looking to go into his forever home, which he would like to share with a similar aged, solid and fully socialized female ridgeback (or other large breed female) to play with and to show him the ropes. Since Ollie does not appear to have seen much in the first months of his life, we are looking for a loving family who is experienced with ridgebacks and willing to commit continuing his training, including socialization. Ollie is a typical young livernose ridgeback: fun-loving, independent, exuberant, smart, loyal and stubborn, who will make an excellent companion with continued training and patience. Disclosure: Due to hip abnormalities, Ollie will not be a jogging partner; instead, he will need daily hikes or walks to keep his muscle mass up and weight down. Ollie has separation anxiety, barks (very loud) and will force himself out of the crate (even with 2 other ridgebacks in crates next to him). Although this might change as Ollie’s socialization and training practices continue, he does not like male dogs (regardless of size). Ollie also has allergies. Ollie’s ideal home is with a similar aged, solid and fully socialized female ridgeback (or other large breed female) to play with and show him the ropes, while being part of a loving family who has knowledge and experience raising exuberant, smart, yet stubborn ridgebacks that lack socialization, and is committed to continuing his daily training while also keeping him slim and exercised. Due to his size and strength, children older than 14 years are advisable. Also, due to his age and exuberance, no cats nor dogs under 60# please.
