Red F Under 3 mos Aug 02 YES ID803
See Pictures of Redi Red is the first of a litter of eight to be adopted. The litter came into rescue after an elderly man whelped the litter. His wife died and he could not handle the stress of her death and dealing with a litter of eight puppies. He was going to take the puppies to the pound when a family friend interceded and offered to find them homes. The elderly man gave the man the litter. This intercession was not an especially easy task. The puppies were located many hundreds of miles away which meant arranging for transport. Then came the task of determining just what to do and where to find help. This man found Jeri, a Ridgeback exhibitor, and went to her for help. She then contacted Arizona's rescue coordinator. After meeting and talking to rescue, the man decided the best thing for the puppies was to surrender the them to Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue volunteers in Arizona. Red's new family, headed by Norm and Jodi, are thrilled to have this cute girl join their other dogs, an 18-year-old daschund and a 2-year-old daschund. Now named "Scarlet," in keeping with her background (Red) and in making a promise for her bright future, Ridgeback Rescue Arizona volunteers wish this puppy the long and good life enjoyed by the other canines loved and owned by Jodi and Norm. In the photo, Arizona RRRI volunteer Taylor says goodbye to Ms. Scarlet as she prepares to leave foster care for her new lifetime home! Tomorrow is definitely another day for this beauty thanks to the dedication of Arizona rescue volunteers, Arizona Ridgeback owners and breeders, and national rescue volunteers. All took this darling and her littermates under their wings to insure her bright and wonderful future. Congratulations to Jodi, Norm, and family; but, most of all, congratulations to Scarlet! And, thank you, to the kind and caring heart of the gentleman who saw it his responsiblity to save this litter from going to the pound!

NAME M/F AGE PLACED PICTURE? ID
Sasha F 4 yrs Aug 01 YES ID386
See Pictures of Sasha Sasha was a stray who had a happy home with her new owners except that family members developed an allergy to her. During her time with the family, she dug out of their yard and was hit by a car. In spite of attempts to save her leg, veterinarians ultimately had to amputate her left front leg at the shoulder. Sasha adapted well and gets around easily on three legs. Sasha is now living with Dave and Tammy in the metro Phoenix area. This couple has one other Ridgeback. They walk several times a week and are willing to put the time and effort into maintaining Sasha's physical health and strength to make her better able to get around on three legs. They have a large, grassed yard and their dogs stay in the house.

NAME M/F AGE PLACED PICTURE? ID
Mariah and Joey F / M 10 / 8 yrs Jul 01 YES ID368 / ID369
See Pictures of Mariah and Joey
See Pictures of Mariah and Joey
Mariah and Joey have hit the jackpot! They love their new home which is filled with love, regular exercise, and the reassurance that they have found their forever home. A huge thank you to Erica, Inge and everyone involved in getting these two dogs from Colorado to California! Mariah came to Colorado from a California shelter where she was scheduled to be euthanized. She is likely mixed with Lab and is getting on in years. She is blind and relies solely on her companion, Joey, to guide her. Joey, like Mariah, is a ridged mix... likely with Lab.

Maggie F 3 yrs Jul 01 YES ID183
See Pictures of Maggie We rescued Maggie just after Halloween last year. She was found on the side of the freeway with a broken leg and foot. A few days later she had surgery and we have been taking care of her ever since. We are so excited that we found a forever home for Maggie. Her new home has a huge back yard for her to run, which she loves. They don't have any other dogs, which is great for Maggie so she can get all of the attention that she deserves. They just live down the street from us so we are able to take our dogs over to play with her. Maggie quickly became very attached to the son (Jamie). She waits for him to come home and get so excited when she sees him. I want to thank Barbara Sitzler for helping us place her in this wonderful home.
