Odin came to us after his family accepted a transfer and couldn't take him along. He spent three weeks in foster care waiting for the right family. Along came Darren and Alicia. Everything they wanted in a Ridgeback was wrapped up in Odin. He left without a glance backward. After his morning walk, Odin spends the day at work with Darren, who is a farrier! We'll miss you, Odin!!

Shadow, now known as Ruby, is one of several abandoned mixed puppies less than a year old. Ruby found a new home in Denver! Transferred from Texas to assist in their rescue efforts, Ruby spent a month in foster care adjusting to life in Colorado. She's in her forever home with a wonderful couple and their Dalamation. Ruby has much to look forward to as she continues to learn to walk on a leash and socialize with other people and their pets. Thanks to Ruby's foster care along the way, she's going to do very well!

Barley is an RR/Golden Retriever mix. Barley's rescue story is very interesting and unique. He was adopted by his original family! His active family, who totally involved Barley in their active, outdoor, lifestyle, lost the lease on the house they were renting. The Grandma told them she would care for Barley until they could find a new place that took dogs. She then turned him into the pound behind their backs. They were so upset that she went and got him only to turn him in again! We have had so many interested folks wanting Barley, but it would never work out. Barley's foster mom was praying for just the right home. When Barley's original family finally purchased their own home, Barley was still in rescue waiting for them. The family was so shocked and happy that Barley was available! But happiest of all was Barley, who got his beloved family back. The foster mom could tell by Barley's reaction, that this was the right thing for him. Everyone's prayers were answered.

Emma was in my home as a temporary foster last summer - (her "dad" was in rehab and rather than placing her I watched her for him for a while...) - well, he couldn't stay clean so he placed her in Rescue understanding that it would be the best thing for her.....She's a HUGE girl - about 30" and at least 105 pounds - she is intimidating, to say the least, though is one of the biggest sweethearts I've ever meet! I only had her about a month when she went to live with Steve, Kathy and their children in Park City, Utah. Emma is getting to go for 3-5 mile hikes and runs each day (she came into Rescue quite overweight) and is totally in love with "her" kids! This is one of the dream placements we all look for - a place in the "country" with kids and exercise and more attention than she could ever dream of!

"Purple" Rescue was in the litter with "Blue" and "Green" - she was with us a little longer since we were looking for perfect homes for these youngsters who had been put in a drop box at the county shelter....well Teia, as she's now known, went to live with Ronica and Dale - who had had one of the first Rescue RR's in Colorado. She lives about 15 minutes away from her sister "Green" (Saja) and they get to see each other and play together quite often!

These girls were two of three that were released to rescue that had been put in a "drop box" at our county animal shelter (originally there had been six but three had been put down before they contacted rescue). The were incredibly thin, had just had their first shots at eight weeks old and were very small for their age. Blue girl (now called Tiqua) came down with Parvo after having being in foster for a week - luckily it was caught very early and in just four days she was ready to come back into her foster home. She was adopted by the Utah state coordinator's in-laws, Connie and Steve, in Irvine, CA. Green girl,(now called Saja) & the biggest of the bunch, was looking for a home when Inge Trump (Colorado Rescue Coordinator) let us know about a perfect family she had there - Scott & Jen. They were indeed perfect for this girl and drove over 8 hours ONE WAY to come pick her up! These two girls are sweet, loving and have perfect ridges and we have no idea what their background is.....but we do know that they are both incredibly lucky to have found rescue and their great new homes!

York had been placed once with someone who didn't believe his rescue coordinator about what to expect from or how to train and work with a RR. He became very disillusioned and the dog was returned to rescue. York's return story was posted on an email list along with what his "dream home" would be. Northern Ontario (Canada) Rescue Coordinator, Ann Garbarino, contacted me about a family she had there and over the course of a month or two we worked out all the details to find out that this was his dream home! On Nov. 18 York boarded a plane from Salt Lake City to Detroit where his new family picked him up and took him to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario! He is now known as Rex and his new "dad", Jonathan, absolutely adores him! A big thanks to Leigh Kelley for fostering York twice!

Sugar went to a husband and wife who had never owned a dog. But their son owned one and he and his dog were living for a time with Mom and Dad. He and his dog were ready to move out and Mom had fallen in love with his dog, so decided to get one for herself. She saw Sugar at the Shelter and was interested, but went home to think it over, plus her son hadn't moved out yet. When she went back to get Sugar she was gone, because I had her. The Shelter had called and told me that she would be put down that morning if I didn't rescue her. I put an ad in the paper, and her people recognized her, and were very happy. So was Sugar. Sugar is a white, somewhat Akita looking girl with a perfect ridge.

Tolo is a very sweet and loving dog! Tolo has lived with the surrendering family, both men and women as well as children, since he was a pup and imported from South Africa. Tolo was rescued in Florida and placed in Billings, Montana with the help of North Florida Rescue Coordinator, Marilyn Murphy. He is adapting to his new homs and learning to trust his new family. He bonded with the mom and dad right away, but the teenage boy took a bit longer as Tolo was a bit uneasy with him. Tolo has loosened up and is playing ball with the green squeeky ball he took with him from here. They have enjoyed watching him play. He is pretty funny with this ball. He sqeaks it and tosses it around and then chases it. The boys play fetch with him a lot. When the dad gets home from work Tolo lays on his feet. When anyone comes over he jumps straight up in the air over and over, but never bumps them. He is well mannered and is perfect on the leash walk he gets everyday. He is getting along well with Peggy's dogs and once a week they all go for a walk together. The vet loves him as well. Tolo's new family says over and over how beautiful he is. They are all very gentle with him and he seems to instinctively know what they want from him.
